Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, says he spends an unusually large share of his time on something other than strategy or product: the company's internal culture. "I probably spend a third, maybe 40%, of my time making sure the culture of Anthropic is good," he has said, framing it as a core part of running the company rather than a side responsibility.
In practice, that means biweekly all-hands meetings he calls "DVQ," short for Dario Vision Quest, where he takes questions covering everything from product strategy to geopolitics, plus an active Slack channel where he talks directly with staff. He favors blunt, unfiltered conversation over typical corporate messaging, arguing that the surest way to avoid internal conflict as a company grows is making sure employees actually understand and believe in its mission, rather than just comply with it.
