One of Berlin’s landmark concert halls will welcome three acclaimed opera soloists and the Filharmonie Brno under Maestro Arkady Beryn on 2 November 2026.On Monday, 2 November 2026, the Philharmonie Berlin will host an Opera Gala in its Großer Saal, bringing together the Filharmonie Brno, Maestro Arkady Beryn and three soloists with careers spanning some of the world’s leading opera stages: tenor René Barbera, baritone Florian Sempey and soprano Alisa Medvedeva. The gala format offers audiences a varied evening of opera and orchestral music rather than a single fully staged production. Familiar arias and duets are presented alongside orchestral works, creating a programme designed both for established opera audiences and for those discovering the repertoire in a live concert setting. The three soloists bring distinct international careers to Berlin. American tenor René Barbera became the first singer to win all three top prizes at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition in 2011. He has since appeared at major houses including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and the Opéra national de Paris.French baritone Florian Sempey has performed at leading European opera houses including the Opéra national de Paris and London’s Royal Opera House. Particularly known for his interpretation of Figaro in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Sempey was appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2022.Soprano Alisa Medvedeva, a graduate of the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire, has performed internationally at venues including Dubai Opera, Wiener Stadthalle and Mozarthaus Vienna, with further appearances in Paris, Monaco, Porto Cervo, St. Moritz and Bucharest. She has shared the stage with internationally renowned artists including Andrea Bocelli, Il Divo, Vittorio Grigolo and Luca Salsi. The singers will be accompanied by the Filharmonie Brno, one of the Czech Republic’s principal orchestras. Founded in 1956, the orchestra has built an extensive international presence through concerts and festival appearances across Europe and beyond.Conducting the evening is Maestro Prof. Arkady Beryn, a conductor with more than forty years of professional experience. He was Chief Conductor of the Internationale Symphoniker Deutschland from 2003 to 2011 and has since worked with orchestras including the Berliner Symphoniker, the Württembergische Philharmonie, the Camerata Salzburg and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, in venues from the Philharmonie Berlin and the Konzerthaus Berlin to the Vienna Musikverein and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. His partners on stage have included José Carreras, Roberto Alagna, Aida Garifullina, Maria Guleghina and Mischa Maisky. The German press has described him with the headline “Dirigent Beryn ist der Star”.The programme includes some of the best-known moments in the operatic repertoire. Barbera will perform “Che gelida manina” and “Una furtiva lagrima”; Sempey’s programme includes “Largo al factotum”, the Toreador Song and “Fin ch’han dal vino”; while Medvedeva will perform “Quando me’n vo’”. The evening also features duets and orchestral works, with the singers coming together for Verdi’s Brindisi from La traviata. The concert takes place in the Großer Saal of the Philharmonie Berlin. Designed by Hans Scharoun and opened in 1963, the Philharmonie is one of Berlin’s best-known cultural landmarks and the home of the Berliner Philharmoniker. With tickets starting at €26.50, the evening also offers a relatively accessible opportunity to experience internationally established opera singers and a full symphony orchestra at one of Europe’s most recognised concert venues. The Opera Gala begins at 20:00 on Monday, 2 November 2026, at the Philharmonie Berlin.EVENT INFORMATIONOperngala-Nacht – Opera Gala at the Philharmonie BerlinMonday, 2 November 2026, 20:00Philharmonie Berlin – Großer SaalHerbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin, GermanyConductor: Maestro Arkady BerynSoloists: René Barbera, tenor; Florian Sempey, baritone; Alisa Medvedeva, sopranoOrchestra: Filharmonie Brno (Brno Philharmonic)Programme: Arias, duets, overtures and intermezzi by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Puccini, Bizet, Verdi, Mascagni, Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Dvořák and Zequinha de AbreuTickets: from €26.50 via Eventim – eventim.de/artist/philharmonie-berlin/operngala-nacht-philhamonie-berlin-4122419Event page: Philharmonie Berlin – berliner-philharmoniker.de/en/concert/calendar/57371Event listing: visitBerlin – visitberlin.de/en/event/brno-philharmonic-opera-gala-night
